Head Start is a comprehensive program that provides a positive preschool environment and developmentally appropriate school readiness experiences. Our professional services include education & early childhood development, medical, dental & mental health, nutrition, and parent involvement.

Head Start

Head Start is a federal program that promotes the school readiness of children ages birth to five for low-income families by providing a learning environment that supports the growth of language and literacy, cognition and general knowledge, physical development and health, social and emotional development, and approaches to learning.

For 50 years, CFCS has been providing quality Head Start & Early Head Start programs in Hayward, San Lorenzo, San Leandro, Union City, Fremont, and Newark.

Early Head Start Program

Early Head Start is a federally funded community-based program for low-income families to promote healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women, enhance the development of very young children (0-3) and to promote healthy family functioning.

Now enrolling for our Head Start & Early Head Start programs

We are now enrolling age income eligible children for our Head Start & Early Head Start programs in Hayward, San Lorenzo, San Leandro, Union City, Fremont & Newark.

  • Services for children with disabilities and transportation resources are available.
  • Full Day Services– for children ages birth – five years old.
  • Parents must be working or going to school a minimum of 30 hours a week to qualify.
  • Part Day Services– Preschool services for 3.5 hours a day for children three to four years old.
